Introduction: From Thesis Completion to Perfect Publication.

 A thesis is considered to be one of the very few essential stages in any scholar’s career which entails research and analysis to come to fruition. It is only once a thesis has been published in a completely finished, flaw-free and in a perfect format that a scholars efforts come to the academic world’s realization. In many instances a thesis doesn't 'fail' simply because it is a poor thesis but due to overlooking such vital elements as appropriate journal, submission processes, formatting standards, ethical aspects.

In the present day, in terms of academic research, visibility is a major factor; with Google scholar and institutional databases being prominent in highlighting our research there is no room for such trivial error as inappropriate structuring or reference format as it affects not just an editors' opinion and an acceptance decision but also an academics' credibility and the impact that their research will eventually have long-term. It must be therefore treated not just as a submission but as an investment, with publication of the thesis demanding a systematic, detailed and strategic approach. It starts with developing a publication strategy: where will the research be published, and why? It has to be identified whether it is going to be submitted for publication as an article, book or simply placed within an institutional repository.

The next step is then to reformat the thesis for publication. Researchers do not send a dissertation-sized piece to an academic journal; it will probably need to be broken down into smaller articles removing duplicated aspects, and highlighting the key findings. With relevant and up to date literature; all references have to be accurate and current, and a research methodology that has been clearly defined as a publication will always stand out as it clearly illustrates the entire scientific process. An academic structure that follows established formats; (Title, Abstract, Introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion and references), and a catchy title and abstract which contains relevant keywords can ensure that an article gains the relevant visibility in terms of search engines. Paraphrasing can prevent any issues with plagiarism; citation techniques are also important in maintainingacademic integrity; not forgetting the use of punctuation, grammar and the formal, appropriate vocabulary to ensure an article is readable and doesn't have an off-putting level of linguistic error. Meticulous editing and proofreading are essential in producing a finished piece. With regard to journal selection there is a lot to take in- scope of journal, impact factor, acceptance rate and the time it will take for the article to be published all need to be considered before selecting and adhering to the specific journal submission guidelines are a must, as this can ensure instant rejection. Handling the review process with grace and constructive response is also critical, as are all ethical considerations. Modern technology tools such as Grammarly, Google scholar, Zotero or Mendeley are tools that researchers can use but critical thought should still be the prime factor. There will be a time when authors will be rejected from publications, which is something to take into account, by revising the article appropriately andresubmitting again if it feels it has merit. Research can and should be shared widely through an academic audience, such as a scholarly network or at academic conferences; so that citations increase and thus the visibility and relevance of that research continues to climb; the thesis should not be looked upon as the final stage of an academic piece but the first for the research carried out.
