Introduction: Perfecting a thesis for flawless publication.
A thesis is one of the important things an individual can do as part of their academics; the research, the studies conducted, the intellect and the years of effort dedicated are embodied in the thesis. However, it remains insignificant unless it is error-free, published and found in a well-recognized publication; this confirms the researcher has performed work worthy of scholarly recognition in the global academic arena. Today, research is made visible by various platforms such as Google Scholar and institutional repositories which play a huge part due to increased research in the academia. Therefore, any insignificant errors can hinder the acceptance, the reliability and further academic impact of a submitted research work. Many researchers think the rejection of their work is due to weak research when the real reasons most submissions are rejected is due to unnecessary reasons such as journal choice, submission format, research ethics or poor preparation. Converting a thesis to an article that can be accepted into a recognized publication involves a clear and well laid strategy: defining whether one wants to publish an article or a book or within repositories. These choices inform one on how to rework the thesis and where to submit it. A thesis is normally too broad and long for immediate publication; hence one should rework it to form articles by deleting superfluous sections and highlighting the important elements. One may also have to recheck and update literature review for recent relevant findings as science is continually advancing. Clear methodology, clear design and clearly shown results during peer review make the paper more credible and reproducible. A research article also needs to be structurally correct: title, abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion and references. Writing must be clear and free of plagiarized or false claims with proper citation of sources according to required citation methods e.g. APA, MLA, Harvard. Proof reading and editing will eliminate any errors and enhance the quality of the paper. Picking the right journal will guarantee better chances of publication considering the scope, impact factor, acceptance rate and publishing period. It will also involve adhering to the journal's submission guidelines, professionally reacting to reviewer reports, strictly adhering to ethical standards of handling data and research information. Some important online tools such as Google Scholar, Grammarly, Zotero and Mendeley should be utilized to enhance the work. In case of failure, one needs to develop tenacity for continued re-submission of the work and promotion. It is achievable to turn a thesis into an article by planning, dedicating and perseverance.
