Introduction: Thesis Completion to Perfect Publication.
A thesis is a significant academic achievement in the life of an academic that stems from years of work, thinking, and research. After completion, it begins a scholarly journey of critical self-analysis. If the thesis can eventually be transformed into a meticulously worded, error-free scholarly piece of writing that contributes to the academic corpus, then it will represent an optimal academic achievement. One of the main mistakes that researchers make is believing that rigorous research is the sole determinant of publication success. While essential, strong research is not sufficient; overlooked details about format, the right journal, ethical standards, and the submission process may lead to its failure.
Nowadays, research work is highly visible due to its inclusion in search engines like Google Scholar and indexing systems. The researcher should understand that even minimal inaccuracies in structure, citation or language may render his/her research unsuccessful in being published, diminish the academic credibility, and affect its longevity. Therefore, the journey from the thesis to publishable work requires strategic, systematic and meticulous research planning.
The initial step must be to devise a publication strategy. Researcher(s) should early on decide their ultimate goals, whether publication for job progression, personal satisfaction, global knowledge dissemination or other objectives. This enables him/her to plan the content reorganization and choice of journal where the research can be published. The research will then have to be reconfigured into a publishable manuscript. Journals generally do not accept long and disorganized documents, and so the researcher(s) will have to partition his/her research work into smaller sections and publish them as separate papers. They will have to omit redundant information and highlight critical findings. The literature review will also need to be updated and augmented with the most current literature to make the paper more robust. It is critical to utilize research methodology effectively since it makes the research strong, and thus helps it pass through the review stages. The researcher(s) will need to ensure that the methods are clearly explained, reproducible, and that they are justified. They also have to ensure that the paper follows a formal structure- title, abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion, and reference. Good writing skill is also important, it has to be clear, and not complicated. Proof reading, editing and proof reading tools will assist the writer to achieve high-quality writing. They need to write original work only. Each and every citation should be correctly formatted using standards such as APA and MLA. The publication will only be considered after meeting these criteria. Selecting an appropriate journal based on the scope of the journal, the number of citation the published works receive (Impact Factor) and the probability of the acceptance of the work will help increase its chances of being published. It is very important to follow journal submission requirements carefully; a minor deviation can cause the work to be rejected. In the final step, the authors must be open to feedback and rejection. Revised submissions are acceptable and are merely part of the entire academic publishing process.
