Small Habits, Great Success.

It is the belief of many students that exceptional grades only stem from incredible intelligence and great aptitude, whereas, in actuality, substantial achievements are built from tiny actions each day. The habits, which develop from long stretches of study, develop a student's knowledge, performance, and scholarly persona.

The practice of persistence is one of the most influential habits; those students who do work habitually, review frequently, and continually apply their studies fare much better than those whom depend only on hurried study prior to a project or exam. Persistence develops comprehension skills and alleviates the strain on examinations and projects.

The practice of reading is perhaps just as critical as any of these previous habits; students that consistently read articles, research papers, academic books, and academic articles are building their minds and intelligence over time and therefore acquire broader viewpoints while improving communication.

The habit of organizing and planning also goes a great way. Students who remain well-organized with well kept notes, schedules, and goals tend to be more productive in academics due to organization reducing confusion and increasing overall output.

The habit of research also comes as second nature to many students. Even having small increments of time devoted to research around topics of interest of the student that may not be directly related to the course work would greatly build the student's intellect through a variety of habits over time that promote thought and intellectual curiosity beyond what may have been introduced in class and the internet also provides numerous avenues for study.

Also important is the habit of communication. The more frequently students participate in class, express thoughts to professors, and establish professional working relationships, they will be able to create a more substantial profile, develop further intellectualism and strengthen their academic reputation and profile.

The practice of digital discipline has become extremely prevalent in this day and age. Students who utilize web sites and programs as resources for their studies are building stronger work ethics, intelligence and their futures than students who waste hours of time on various distractions and entertainment media online.

The habit of reflection also proves just as important. Successful students analyze what worked and did not work in past attempts to ensure mistakes are not repeated and new effective strategies are found in the present and future; it improves and reinforces the intellectual capacity and knowledge gained.

Finally, small leadership habits could go a great distance.Taking initiative in activities or projects will also help in gaining the confidence and work skills to not only achieve academically but also within future endeavors and careers.

In sum, academic achievement seldom occurs through a singular endeavor. Quite the contrary, sustained success within academics, or any other field, is a result of consistent habits that have been practiced tirelessly. It is with habits that student's mold themselves into effective, intelligent and capable individuals, prepared for the future they are creating.
