The Dissertation is a work that deserves to be read by more people.

A dissertation is a measure of years of discipline, critical thinking and intellectual development. Scientists collect data, analyze information and formulate new insights and understanding for hours and hours. However, despite this vast effort, very little academic research is conducted outside academia.

This is where many scholars lose a great opportunity.

In the era of knowledge, individuals are continually looking for credible knowledge. Whether it's a solution that businesses need, guidance that professionals look for, or innovation that industries are searching for, there is a need for it. Much of this information is already available in dissertations, but not made available in publically accessible formats.

Writing a dissertation as a book gives researchers the opportunity to connect research and society.

The first step in the process is to know your audience. Academic readers are different from general readers. Universities like complexity and technical accuracy – readers like clarity, simplicity, and relevance. A commercial book has to then emphasize more on the communication aspect rather than on the academic structure.

This frequently involves restructuring entire chapters, making the language simple, cutting theory out and incorporating examples from the real world. The content should be interesting, actionable and easy to follow, rather than a research paper.

A good book based on a dissertation doesn't take away the intelligence from the book — it makes it more accessible. The aim is to disseminate valuable knowledge in a way that is comprehensible to wider audiences but retains the integrity of the research.

In addition, publishing assists researchers build their credibility beyond their academic world. A book can establish one as an expert in one's industry, gain professional recognition and create opportunities both within and beyond one's “home” industry and across international markets.

Knowledge is much more useful when it gets to those who can use it. The research should not be buried in archives, but must be able to educate, influence and inspire the world.
