Educational institutions have a large role in shaping critical thinking by teaching students to question, examine, and debate ideas. It appears that as artificial intelligence and other automated methods are developed, it will become even more important for humans to rely on the skills such as critical thinking to decipher the information we receive. Critical thinking is far more than just a skill necessary for research; it is a thinking style used in everyday life and by scientists that promotes diligent inquiry, intelligent judgment, and responsible scholarship. The outcome of the research is based on the information presented but ultimately also on the way that research students think about this information.
