 Leadership skills also need to be more widely developed, as future researchers will need to lead project teams, work within groups, as well as potentially work as an independent unit but within a collective group. This will help to improve efficiency and maintain the standard of research.

Creativity is also an attribute that is unlikely to diminish in importance. Researchers will have to consider new theories, use other approaches and think outside the box to enable a break through to be made.

The need for researchers to consider their human interaction and to think on a human level in addition to their technical ability also needs to be addressed to achieve optimal impact through the use of research.

The coming decade offers huge possibilities and demands on the part of researchers, so to meet this researchers should combine in-depth knowledge with communication, leadership, ethics, adaptability and the ability to work in collaboration to pioneer the future of science.

Future scholars cannot just be individuals but a communicating collaborative of an innovatively and continuous learner who can work in a rapidly changing world.
